Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Management (CE Certificate)

The Department of Politics & Public Administration, the School of Business Management and the School of Social Work have created this distinctive, interdisciplinary certificate program in response to a growing demand for education that focuses on the specialized needs of the sector.
This program is the first undergraduate university certificate program in nonprofit sector management in Canada. It is affiliated with Ryerson’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Studies, which provides a dynamic link to the sector through research, consultation, and educational programming. This unique program offers:

  1. an interdisciplinary curriculum pooling knowledge from three academic disciplines: business management, public administration, and social work;
  2. a practical blend of theory and application taught by academics and practitioners; and
  3. a wide range of current and relevant courses covering key areas such as marketing, financial management, fundraising, advocacy, strategic planning, public relations, organizational management, and organizational change

The courses that make up the Certificate may be Professionally Related electives in your program, however University regulations require that, to earn the CE Certificate in addition to your degree, at least four (4) of the courses be taken through Continuing Education, and that those courses be additional to the courses (Professional, Professionally-Related, and Liberal Studies) used to satisfy the requirements of the program in which you are enrolled. Students who complete a MINOR in Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Management may NOT earn the Certificate.

Courses taken through Continuing Education will have a “C” prefix (e.g., INP 900 taken through CE will be CINP 900).

Consult the Continuing Education Calendar for further information on the CE Certificate in Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Management and for a schedule of course offerings.
