The Department of Politics and Public Administration is an exciting, innovative academic workplace that is part of the Faculty of Arts and Ryerson University.


Faculty Positions
Faculty at Ryerson University are represented by the Ryerson Faculty Association (RFA) and the conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by the RFA and the University Administration.

Sessional and Part-Time Instructors
Sessional and Part-Time Instructors at Ryerson University are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3904 and constitute “Unit 1” of that bargaining unit. Conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by CUPE 3904 and the University Administration.

Sessional and part-time teaching positions will be posted on this site as they are available. In general, the posting dates are as follows, however “emergency postings” may occasionally be posted outside these time frames:
Fall Term: by May 15
Winter Term: by November 1
Spring/Summer Terms: by March 1

Continuing Education Instructors
Continuing Education Instructors and Distance Education Instructors at Ryerson University are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3904 and constitute “Unit 2” of that bargaining unit. Conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by CUPE 3904 and the University Administration.

Continuing Education positions will NOT be posted on this site, but are posted on the website of the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education. In general, the posting dates are as follows, however “emergency postings” may occasionally be posted outside these time frames:
Fall Term: by June 15
Winter Term: by November 1
Spring/Summer Terms: by March 1

Please note that applications for these courses must be made at the Chang School and NOT to the Department.

Academic Assistants
Academic Assistants (Graduate Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Markers/Graders) at Ryerson University are represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3904 and constitute “Unit 3” of that bargaining unit. Conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by CUPE 3904 and the University Administration.

All Academic Assistant positions are posted on TAGA, the Human Resources web-site designed for that purpose. All applications must be completed online.


Research Assistants
Research Assistants at Ryerson University are represented by the Ontario Public Sector Employees’ Union (OPSEU) Local 596. Conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by OPSEU 596 and the University Administration.

In general, Research Assistants are Ryerson students who share a research interest with a faculty member who holds a research grant and is therefore able to offer employment on that basis.

No Research Assistant positions are currently available in the Department.


Administrative Personnel
Administrative personnel at Ryerson University are represented by the Ontario Public Sector Employees’ Union (OPSEU) Local 596. Conditions of employment are regulated by the Collective Agreement negotiated by OPSEU 596 and the University Administration.
