Jacquie Chic has been an instructor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration since 1999.

A lawyer by training, she worked first at Parkdale Community Legal Services and then at the Income Security Advocacy Centre as its director of advocacy and legal services. She is currently a legal volunteer with the Workers’ Action Centre and also serves as the Vice-President (Campaigns) of CUPE Local 3904.

Jacquie hold a B.A. and M.A. in Political Economy from the University of Toronto, and LLB from Osgoode, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. There her work focuses on why social justice activism is so often as alienated and alienating as the relations and systems it seeks to transform and contemplates this: what hope do we have of dreaming and creating a truly just world if we can’t make it happen in the spaces we have a direct hand in fashioning?
