Joerg Wittenbrinck holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Toronto as well as a certificate degree in Anglo-American Law from the University of Muenster, Germany, where he did his undergraduate studies in Philosophy, Political Science and Public Law. He is currently completing his dissertation in Political Science at the the University of Toronto. Entitled "Democratizing Decision-Making: Policy Process Innovations and the Integration of Gender and the Environment in Canada and Germany", the dissertation examines efforts to "mainstream" new perspectives throughout the policy process. He has published on gender equality policies and the new modes of governance in the European Union.

In the Department of Politics and Public Administration, Joerg teaches the introductory course "People, Power, Politics" (POG 100) as well the Liberal Studies course "Politics of the Environment" (POL 203). He has taught introductions to Politics, Comparative Politics, Canadian Politics, and Environmental Politics at Ryerson University and all three campuses of the University of Toronto.
