Marg Rappolt was appointed Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Community and Social Services in July 2009. Marg’s lifelong commitment to public service began with the Government of Saskatchewan, and has included positions of increasing responsibility in the Ontario Public Service. In her current role, Marg is leading major transformation initiatives to better serve people who rely on social assistance, families who rely on child and spousal support payments, and people who have a developmental disability. Under her leadership, Ontario has also made enormous progress in meeting its commitment to become an accessible province for people with disabilities. Marg is dedicated to working with Ontarians to increase awareness of accessibility, ensure organizations meet their obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and address gaps in policies and practices that create barriers to people with disabilities. During her long and distinguished career with the Ontario Public Service, Marg has significantly contributed to the health, cultural, economic and social well-being of Ontarians. She has served as Deputy Minister of Culture, Deputy Minister Responsible for Seniors, Deputy Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Deputy Minister of Health Promotion. Prior to that, she was the Associate Deputy Minister and Acting Deputy Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. Earlier in Marg’s career, she was Assistant Deputy Attorney General, Business Policy and Planning. Marg holds a Masters of Public Administration degree and an Honours BA in Political Science from Queen’s University.
