Application Package
Applications materials and step-by-step instructions for applying can be found on the website of Graduate Studies Admissions. The standard School of Graduate Studies application package will consist of an application form, academic references, a Statement of Interest, a resume, official transcripts of complete academic records from all postsecondary institutions attended and a program specific Supplementary Admission Data form which will include instructions on how many copies of these documents are required.
Formal Procedure for Application
Candidates will formally apply to a Program through Graduate Studies Admissions. A portion of the application is completed online and an application package must also be mailed the Graduate Admissions Office directly. Do not forward applications to the Public Policy and Administration department as this may delay the processing of your application. When an application is received and all supporting documentation is matched and verified, the Office of Admissions will forward the application and documents to the Graduate Program for review. The official Offer of Admission will be issued by the Graduate Admissions Office.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose language of instruction during their undergraduate studies was other than English are required to submit a test of English Language Proficiency. Students may submit scores from either TOEFL, the Cambridge IELTS or the MELAB test. The test minimums are as follows: TOEFL 580 paper based or 237 computer based, IELTS a score of 7.0, or MELAB with a minimum score of 85. Please be aware that some programs may have higher requirements, and the Program policy on English proficiency should be consulted.Please be aware that where an English Proficiency Test is required, the application will not be assessed for admission without a test result that meets the program minimum.
Transfer of Credit
Where a candidate has completed appropriate graduate courses at an acceptable level from another academic institution, these courses may be recognized in partial fulfillment of Ryerson's degree requirements. Responsibility for assessing the appropriateness of such courses shall rest with the Director of the Program. Credit for such work shall not exceed fifty percent of the Program's degree requirements.Transfer credits should be evaluated on admissions to graduate programs. Click here for more details.
