Food Security (CE Certificate)

Students of Politics and Governance may pursue a Continuing Education Certificate in Food Security, which consists of a total of six (6) one-semester courses. Three (3) of those courses, however, must be successfully completed through Continuing Education and must be additional to the courses (Professional, Professionally-Related, and Liberal Studies) that are required to satisfy the requirements of your Degree (BA: Politics & Governance). Courses taken through Continuing Education will have a “C” prefix (e.g., FNY 403 taken through CE will be CFNY 403).

The required courses are all part of the Professionally-Related Table IV for Politics and Governance:

  • (C) FNY 403: Food Security Concepts and Principles
  • (C)FNY 404: Food Policy and Programs for Food Security
  • (C)FNY 405: Applied Research Methods and Evaluation in Food Security

Two elective courses are also part of the Professionally-Related Table IV for Politics and Governance:

  • (C)FNY 406: Economics of Food Security
  • (C)FNY 408: Urban Food Security

Students who complete any three of the above courses as Professionally-Related electives in the Politics and Governance program must satisfy the balance of the Certificate requirements through Continuing Education registration.  For a complete listing of such courses, refer to the CE Calendar listing for the Food Security Certificate
