Choose courses applicable to your degree program

To complete your Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Governance within the recommended 4 years (6 year maximum), it is necessary to complete 5 courses per term or 40 courses in total.

All of the courses you complete MUST be part of your degree requirements, or must be “directed” by your program department to satisfy degree requirements. The Registration Instructions and Degree Checklist will assist you in choosing Table I and Table A courses that fit the requirements of your degree, since restricted/incompatible courses have been removed from that listing.  Since Ryerson’s enrolment system will show you all available classes, it is the individual student’s responsibility to select only the appropriate classes.

Courses have 3 hours per week of class time, although some may be configured to have 2 hours of lecture per week and a 1 hour tutorial. Tutorials are, in all cases, part of the course requirement, and attendance is NOT optional. Descriptions, dates and times can be viewed on RAMSS.

In the event if any conflict between this guide and the current Undergraduate Calendar, the Calendar takes precedence.

Enrol in classes using RAMSS

To Enrol in Classes:

From the RAMSS tab within the http://my.ryerson.ca (Blackboard) website select the Class Enrollment / Course Intention link. Select the term/semester (Fall or Winter) and then select the add classes link. You will be able to find and add classes to your schedule.

Add Classes:

This option will allow you to find and enrol in/add classes to your schedule. Note that space is limited in many classes; if no space is available you can opt to join the waiting list for the class.

Drop Classes:

This option will allow you to remove a class from your schedule.

There may be both financial and/or academic penalties if you drop a class after it has begun. It is possible to drop a class and receive a full/partial refund before a specific date. It is also possible to drop a class and receive no grade before a specific date (particularly if you are not doing well in the class).

Please consult the significant dates section of the current Undergraduate Calendar for details.

Swap Classes:

Swapping a class will allow you to replace one class with another. Swap preserves your original enrolment until the swap is successful. If the class with which you want to swap is unavailable, your original class enrolment will be preserved.  If the swap is successful, you will be dropped from the original class.
