Public Policy and Administration, MA

We appreciate your interest in our MA program in
Public Policy and Administration.

Located in the heart of Canada’s largest metropolitan centre, Ryerson University offers an exciting and innovative graduate program with full-time and part-time study options leading to a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration. Launched in 2005, the program gives students the extraordinary advantage of proximity to, and engagement with, business, government and community agencies. This proximity is a significant asset in supporting student research, networking and placement/ internship opportunities.

This innovative program (offered in both full- and part-time configurations) integrates the fields of public policy and public administration to reflect the theoretical and practical realities of the political context of policy development, implementation and analysis; and, prepares graduates for further academic pursuits and careers in the public service at all levels of government, in the non-profit sector, in private sector organizations with significant relationships with government and in international organizations.

In 2007-8, the program received the highest possible evaluation after an Ontario Council of Graduate Schools (OCGS) review, and in summer, 2008, it was the first program in Canada to earn accreditation from CAPPA – The Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration.

Accredited by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration

"The MA in Public Policy and Administration program gave me a solid theoretical basis for understanding policy, practical on-the-job experience, and helped me develop the ‘tools in my toolbox’ for my career at a major asset management and private equity investment firm in Toronto where I help develop the company’s corporate social responsibility policy and environmental sustainability action plan -- which demonstrates the relevance and broad applicability of my degree."
