About Us

Formerly called the Department of Business and Technical Communication and then the Department of Professional Communication, we are now the School of Professional Communication. Our School offers courses in a wide range of professional communication areas including:

  1. collaborative
  2. group
  3. intercultural
  4. international
  5. oral
  6. organizational
  7. technical
  8. science
  9. visual
  10. written
  11. interpersonal

As a School, we have great breadth. Our day course registrants now number approximately 3,300 and our Continuing Education students taking either individual courses or the full Certificate number 1,800 yearly, bringing our student body to over to 5,000 students a year.

Students in all of Ryerson's faculties take our courses as electives or as requirements in their programs of study. In fact, all Engineering and Business students take our courses. Additionally, many students choose to take our Minor in Business Communication.

WE ARE NOW A SCHOOL!
On January 26th, 2010, the Ryerson University Senate approved the change of our name from the Department of Professional Communication to the School of Professional Communication.
