Biography:
Born and raised in Montreal, Gaye is still adjusting to life in Toronto, after spending a scant twenty years living here. The thing that still amazes her about living in Ontario is the fact that she has to constantly assure people that "Yes, Gaye Savage is a real name and yes, it is definitely her name!
Gaye is very happy to have spent the last ten years teaching at Ryerson University in the School of Professional Communication. She believes that the courses this school provides are key components to any student's success in their professional and personal life. Her more than 20 years experience working in the business world has convinced her of this and she is proud to have a part in helping students gain these skills and knowledge.
The path leading to her position at Ryerson University has been a long and varied one. Gaye has a B.A. Honors English, from Concordia University and an M.B.A from the Ivey School of Business. She also has a certification in “Adult Education” from St. Francis Xavier University and is working on gaining certification in “Career and Workplace Counseling” for young adults.
The major part of Gaye’s working life has been spent in a number of positions in business, ranging from municipal government, the entertainment industry, engineering, information technology, university administration, non-profit organizations and corporate training bringing her finally to Ryerson and teaching.
At Ryerson Gaye has taught professional communication courses to students in Business, Retail Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, Graphic Communications, Urban Planning and Fashion. She looks forward to continuing to expand the number of students she gets to know and work with here at one of Toronto's most interesting universities.
