Minor in Business Communication

The School of Professional Communication offers a Minor in Business Communication. The Business Communication minor helps students develop a high level of competency in written, oral, and visual communication, which is increasingly recognized as vital to success in business and the public sector. The Minor develops students' communication professionalism through theoretical and workshop courses emphasizing creative, workable solutions to challenging communication problems.

To receive the Minor, a student must complete six courses (two required and 4 elective) from the following course of study:

The following two courses are required:

CMN 279* and CMN314

Four courses must be taken from the following list:

CMN 288, CMN 305, CMN 306, CMN 313, CMN 315, CMN 413, CMN 414, CMN 443, CMN 444, CMN 447, CMN 448, and CMN 450.

* The material in CMN 279 is covered by courses specific to individual programs, and such equivalent courses to CMN 279 are listed below by program.

Computer Science - CMN 300
Fashion - CMN 373
Hospitality and Tourism Management - CMN 207
Information Technology Management  - CMN 124
Public Administration and Governance - CCMN 114
Retail Management - CMN 201
