Jean-Paul Boudreau, Dean, Faculty of Arts

Jean-Paul Bourdreau

Faculty of Arts

Jean-Paul Boudreau has become a leading expert in infant cognition and development. He is the director of Ryerson's Children, Health, Infancy, Learning, Development (CHILD) Lab and is a founder of the Early Development Group Exchange (EDGE), a consortium of three research labs involving 15 undergraduate and graduate student trainees.

Boudreau has developed key external partnerships and played an integral role in fostering Ryerson's relationship with St. Michael's Hospital to create a psychology training clinic for inter-professional education and placement opportunities for students in nursing, nutrition and psychology.

Boudreau received his PhD in Experimental Psychology from Tufts University in Boston, his MA in Child Development from Laurentian University and his BA from the University of New Brunswick.

Gerd Hauck, Dean, Faculty of Communication & Design

Gerd Hauck

Faculty of Communication & Design

Gerd Hauck has been involved in a wide range of scholarly areas, including modern drama, technology in theatre, translation, film and television production, journalism and dramaturgy. Much of his work is interdisciplinary. His most recent research has focused on the convergence of digital media and theatre, which allowed him to explore the applications of new technologies in both the artistic and commercial aspects of design and performance.  

Hauck obtained his PhD in theatre studies from the University of Toronto, a Master of Letters from Cambridge University, an MA in comparative literature from the University of Sussex, and the equivalent of a master's degree (Staatsexamen) from Heidelberg University. He has directed, produced and hosted theatre and television performances in Italy, Germany, the U.S. and Canada.

Usha George

Faculty of Community Services

Usha George has made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Faculty of Community Services. She launched several initiatives to enhance the faculty's capacity for scholarly, research and creative (SRC) activities. Specialized workshops were introduced to give faculty members increased support for their scholarly writing and external funding applications.

Under George's leadership, the Dean's Office also provided targeted support for faculty research centres, including the establishment of the interdisciplinary Centre for Global Health and Equity in 2010.

George is a distinguished scholar and researcher in the areas of newcomer settlement and integration, and diversity and organizational change. She holds a PhD from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria, an MA from Loyola University of Chicago, and an MA, a BSc and a BEd from the University of Kerala, India.

Sri Krishnan, Interim Dean, FEAS

Sri Krishnan

Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science

Sri Krishnan became interim dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) on May 1, 2013.

Krishnan was instrumental in founding the undergraduate degree program in biomedical engineering, the first of its kind in Canada. He has fostered numerous international collaborations and industry partnerships. Under his direction, the PhD program in electrical and computer engineering was launched, and he played a pivotal role in establishing the Faculty’s Research and Innovation Office (RiO).

Krishnan’s research expertise is in biomedical signal processing. He holds one US patent and has published nearly 220 papers in refereed journals and conferences. An active collaborator with clinicians, industries and researchers, Krishnan is a Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Signal Analysis. He earned a BEng from Anna University in Chennai, India, and an MSc and PhD from the University of Calgary.

Imogen Coe, Dean, Faculty of Science

Imogen Coe

Faculty of Science

Imogen Coe is the inaugural dean of Ryerson University's newest faculty. Coe is a cell biologist, and has presented her research at conferences and seminars across the globe.

Coe has received many research grants and awards throughout her career, currently holds grants from both NSERC and CIHR, and was awarded the Premier's Research Excellence Award (now known as the Early Researcher Award) for her research activities from 2000 - 2005.

Coe received an MSc and PhD in Biology from the University of Victoria and a bachelor’s degree from Exeter University in the United Kingdom.

Steven Murphy, Dean, Ted Rogers School of Management

Steven Murphy

Ted Rogers School of Management

Steven Murphy is an award-winning teacher and a recognized expert in organizational behaviour. Before joining Ryerson in 2013, he was associate dean, research and external at the Sprott School on Business at Carleton University. He has taught MBA courses around the world—including China, Australia, and the UK. He has authored over 110 papers, book chapters, technical reports, and presentations.

In both the private and public sectors, Murphy has played significant roles in leadership development, senior management dynamics, and executive coaching with clients from virtually all federal government departments as well as the private sector. He is frequently quoted in national media on his research and its implications. Murphy obtained his PhD, master’s and bachelor degrees at Carleton.

Yeates School of Graduate Studies

Jennifer Mactavish is internationally recognized for her pioneering research that has transformed the lives of individuals with disability around the world by promoting social justice and equity in sport and leisure. These values are complemented by her commitment to collaboration and partnership building, and deep appreciation for diverse scholarly and research traditions—all of which are essential to supporting and promoting Ryerson's growing spectrum of graduate programs.

Mactavish received a PhD in Education with a concentration in therapeutic recreation and educational psychology and a certificate in Interdisciplinary Studies in Developmental Disability from the University of Minnesota; an MSc from the University of Manitoba; and a bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia.

Marie Bountrogianni, Interim Dean, The Chang School

Marie Bountrogianni

The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education

Marie Bountrogianni is interim dean of The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education as of July1, 2013.

Bountrogianni is a former Ontario cabinet minister who first joined The Chang School as a distinguished visiting scholar in 2011; she was later appointed as a research fellow in 2012. From 1999 to 2007, Bountrogianni served as minister of a number of portfolios including Intergovernmental Affairs, Democratic Renewal, Children and Youth Services, and Citizenship and Immigration. During her time in political office, Bountrogianni was instrumental in negotiating landmark federal-provincial agreements and in introducing the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Bountrogianni holds a doctorate in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto. She recently completed a five-year term with the Child and Youth Committee for the national Mental Health Commission, and is appointed to the Canada California Business Council.
