Academic Structures

Since becoming a university in 1993, Ryerson has grown exponentially in undergraduate student numbers and programs, has established a graduate school, and has placed greater emphasis on scholarly, research and creative activity.

Shaping Our Future challenged us to look afresh at the university’s structure: to consider the establishment of new faculties and the possible reorganization of existing schools and departments to support program growth and development, trans-disciplinary collaboration, and other major priorities. Shaping Our Future proposed that the university’s current structure be revisited to ensure that Ryerson is able to respond effectively to growth and change.
