Many students are unaware of the potential sources of funding that exist for them. Ryerson has several awards and many more are available externally. Here you will find various links to listings of scholarships and awards including sources of funding specifically for Psychology Graduate Students! In addition, you will also find listings of external search engines where more funding sources are open to you to apply!

American Psychological Association Awards
For graduate students specializing in Psychological Science.
The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT)
ABCT has several Special Interest Groups (SIGs) which offer awards to students who are presenting research at ABCT related to the mission of a SIG.  For example, the Anxiety Disorders SIG offers a student research award to students presenting research on anxiety disorders at ABCT that year.   Information on the different SIGs, and contact information for each SIG can be found by clicking on this link: Current ABCT Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
The Canadian Acoustical Association
These awards are particularly relevant for psychology students:

Bell Student Prize, Prize: $800
Directors’ Award, Prize: $500
Student Presentation Awards, Prize: $500

CHEO Graduate Award
Awarded by the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health at CHEO. Graduate Awards aim to build capacity in the area of child and youth (0-18 years of age) mental health with a focus on evidence-based knowledge and practices. This award is not restricted to any one discipline of mental health training or sector of mental health practice.

The Malyon-Smith Scholarship Award
Awarded by Division 44 of the American Psychological Association, which annually awards up to $1000 to selected graduate students in psychology to advance research in the psychology of sexual orientation and gender identity. The award represents one of the Division's major efforts to mentor and support science in LGB psychology by encouraging the work of young researchers.

OCGS Women’s Health Scholars Awards
Awarded by the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, a Scholar Awards Program in Women's Health has been established to ensure that Ontario attracts and retains pre-eminent women's health scholars.  The community of women's health scholars fostered by this Awards program will excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge about women's health and its translation into improved health for women, more effective health services and products for women, and a strengthened heath care system.

For 2009-10, up to two awards will be made at each of the Master’s and Doctoral levels, and one award at the Postdoctoral level:
Master's Awards - $18,000 plus $1,000 research allowance
Doctoral Awards - $20,000 plus $2,000 research allowance
Postdoctoral Awards - $40,000 plus $5,000 research allowance

OHTN Studentship Award
The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) supports research that has the potential to improve the health and quality of life for people living with and affected by HIV, contribute to HIV prevention efforts in Ontario, and address issues that are a priority to the HIV community.  Studentship awards are designed to encourage individuals to pursue a career in the field of HIV/AIDS and/or research that is relevant and has impact on the HIV/AIDS field.  Funding of Studentship Awards will be for a period of two years at $21,000 per year, with a yearly travel allowance of $1000. 

OMHF Research Studentship Award
Awarded by Ontario Mental Health Foundation. The Ontario Mental Health Foundation offers a limited number of awards for training in research in the mental health field.  The Research Studentship is available only to those who are enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Ontario Universities during the award period.

The Seymour Fisher Outstanding Body Image Dissertation Annual Award

Provides funding information for Canadian citizens in post-secondary education and beyond.

Community of Science

A privately held company funded by John Hopkins University to create an international database of university-based scientific research. Primarily for American institutions but some options for Canadian institutions.

Scholarship information for colleges and universities in the U.S.

National Educational Association of Disabled Students
NEADS includes a directory where students with disabilities can access information on scholarships, bursaries, awards, and government programs.

Scholarships Canada

Extensive Canadian scholarship portal, covering scholarships, student awards, bursaries and grants and information about student loans, applications and budget planning.

Information helpful for students planning to study in the  U.S.
The Student Awards Site
Highly recommended by graduate students. A Canadian website for both undergraduate and graduate students.
