Driven to Excel: Psychology Students Honoured
By Jean-Paul Boudreau & Melissa Eluik
The Annual Faculty of Arts Awards Ceremony for the Social Sciences (including Psychology, Criminal Justice, Politics & Governance, Sociology, and Undeclared Arts) was held on November 7th 2007 at the historic Arts and Letters Club of Toronto.
Psychology student Joanna Wiktorska received top academic honours for the highest average of all social science program students in ACS 105 (Informal Logic and Rational Discourse). This challenging course is among the required courses that all social science students take in the first year of the common curriculum.
Psychology student Devon Stoyka received one of the two top essay awards in ACS 205 (Writing as a Cultural Act), also a required course for all social science students. Her winning essay was entitled “Growing From Within: How Ephemeral Writing Promotes Engagement and Higher Order Thinking in Students”.
Psychology student Elizabeth Wong was awarded the top honour for achieving the highest combined average of all first-year students pursuing the BA degree in Psychology in our flagship courses PSY 102 (Introduction to Psychology I) and PSY 202 (Introduction to Psychology II).
Two new inductees on the Dean’s List and a record 37 Ryerson University Entrance Scholarship winners from Psychology were also acknowledged at the Awards Ceremony.
Congratulations to our students who do us proud with their drive to excellence. A special thank you to their families and friends who help provide the support and context for achieving academic excellence.
