The Ryerson Advising Network is a community of practice for staff and faculty that advise students. Since its inception this network has created opportunities for its members to share effective practices on how they support student success and how to create exceptional experiences for students. You can view our various supports below including newsletters, training and our annual conference.
Every month the University Academic Advising Unit sends out a newsletter containing information relevant to academic advising. The content may include upcoming the topic of our monthly meetings, professional development opportunities, academic advising conferences and current research on effective practices in advising. The Ryerson Advising Network hosts optional monthly meetings based on relevant topics to advising at Ryerson. To learn more about the monthly meetings, please sign up for the newsletter above. Please note some meetings are postponed due to peak period such as semester startups.
Since 2015 the Office of the Registrar hosts a half-day advising conference on campus around March. Updates and registration are posted in the monthly advising newsletters.
We are pleased to announce the launch of Interprofessional Approaches to Advising. This program consists of 4 sessions over several months to connect advisors to effective practices of advising. You will learn approaches such as setting the stage for high-impact advising, how to ask the right open-ended questions, and how to keep your students on track to their goals.
Ideally cohorts should be between 10-30 students. To set up a cohort, or if you are interested in joining the next cohort please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
