Sending Students to Ryerson

Process: Once you have made your final decision as to which of your students will be coming to Ryerson, please direct them to fill out our INCOMING STUDENT APPLICATION FORM, available on our Incoming Students page. The form will be submitted online, and the student will be issued a tracking number. The form should then be signed by the student, and sent to the appropriate Ryerson exchange coordinator by e-mail, accompanied by a transcript and study plan. We cannot overstate the importance of students supplying a reliable and up-to-date email address on this form.

Nomination/Application: Please send a list of your nominated students to the appropriate Ryerson exchange coordinator along with the following supporting documents:

Please send all documents electronically.

Deadlines: Please note the following deadlines for incoming student applications:

Fall Term (September through December) - MARCH 30

Winter Term (January through April) - SEPTEMBER 30

Offer of Acceptance: Once our exchange coordinators have received the above documentation, an 'Offer of Acceptance' will be produced at Ryerson and sent out to your office. Please keep a copy of this document on hand and distribute the original to the student, who may require it to get a visa or to enter Canada. Students whose materials are received by our deadlines can expect to receive their 'Offer of Acceptance' well in advance of their departure date.

Pre-Arrival: Students who have been selected for your exchange program with Ryerson will also receive a package including information specific to their area of study and a wide range of preparatory material, including our pre-arrival manual (also available via our Incoming Students page). Among other topics, the manual contains important information on securing accommodation in Toronto, which students should be strongly encouraged to attend to well in advance of leaving home.

Arrival in Toronto: Ryerson International will also be in touch with your students via email before their arrival to invite them to an Orientation session, and to answer any pre-arrival questions or concerns they may have. These sessions are held each term on the Friday morning preceeding the class start date (usually a Monday). Students will be welcomed to the Ryerson community, and will be provided with a broad range of introductory information regarding study at Ryerson and life in Toronto.

In addition, students will be introduced to members of the Ryerson International Exchange Committee (RISExC), who eagerly arrange a number of special events and social activities to keep exchange students connected, and ensure that they have ample opportunity to make friends and make the most of their time in Toronto.

Post-Exchange: Once the exchange term is complete, the exchange coordinators at Ryerson will arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to our partner institutions. Students requiring an extra copy for their own records can request one from our Enrollment Services and Student Records office by mail.
