Goals for the Ryerson Image Centre:
- To be a centre of excellence for the study, teaching, research and exhibition of photography and related media
- To be a fully integrated and vibrant partner within the academic fabric of Ryerson University, the cultural network of greater Toronto, as well as the ever-expanding international community of exchange and collaboration
- To provide a dynamic exhibition program with ongoing complementary public programming including symposia and film series
- To reflect contemporary and historical developments in photojournalism, fine art photography, as well as related media arts in Canada and around the world
- To develop a relevant publishing program
- To engage students in all aspects of the gallery and research centre
- To partner with cultural institutions and collections in Canada and abroad
- To be accessible and relevant to the general public as well as academic and arts communities
- To encourage dialogue among diverse communities
- To be a model for educational and collaborative outreach across the city, the province and the country
- To consciously engage in creative “City Building”
