VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Ryerson Image Centre (RIC) is an international centre of excellence dedicated to the public exhibition, research, study and teaching of photography and related disciplines, including new media, installation and film.

We rely on our diverse group of volunteers to help assist with a variety of special events such as exhibition openings, receptions and programs, which flourish from enthusiastic and reliable support.

We are currently seeking assistance for upcoming public programming and special events held within the gallery. Duties include:

  • Communicating with visitors to offer information and answer questions about the RIC and our current programming
  • Circulating the galleries to enforce all policies ensuring the safety and security of works on display and public spaces
  • Assisting in set up, registration and coat check

We ask for a minimum 4-month commitment (1 season of exhibitions), which includes on-site training. Volunteer shifts can range from 3-5 hours, occurring during gallery hours and some evenings to accommodate special events, exhibition openings, and public programs.

Through volunteering at the RIC you can:

  • Gain valuable experience working in a professional gallery environment
  • Meet leading scholars, curators, artists and the Ryerson community
  • Participate in exciting exhibitions, opening receptions and special programming
  • Receive a volunteer reference or sign off for volunteer hours

If you are passionate about photography and its related disciplines, interested in engaging with our content and interacting with our visitors please email ric@ryerson.ca and include some information about yourself, past experiences, and your availability.
