Student screens film at Hot Docs

Second-year film student Andrew Moir's film has been selected for Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary festival. "Uprooted" is about a tobacco farmer who signed a deal with the federal government requesting to give up his crops. Hot Docs runs April 28 to May 8, presenting over 200 films from more than 43 countries. more

Boyagoda to read from second novel

English professor Randy Boyagoda will read from his second novel tonight at Harbourfront. Beggar's Feast is a story about family, pride and ambition. "I wanted to say something universal about the human condition through the story of one man, one family, one village," he says in Quill & Quire. Boyagoda's first novel, Governor of the Northern Province, was longlisted for the 2006 Scotiabank Giller Prize. more
