Make Your Mark campaign surpasses $200 million

Spanning the Gaps students

Campaign support for Spanning the Gaps students, pictured here, helps Ryerson extend a guiding hand in the community and bridge the gap to university.

Ryerson’s Make Your Mark fundraising campaign surpassed its $200-million goal to support key building projects, an enhanced research and teaching agenda (including new academic programs, updated library resources, and the latest technologies), and expanded opportunities and access for students through scholarships and bursaries.

Coming at a critical point in Ryerson’s evolution, the campaign called on alumni, faculty and staff, students and parents, corporations, foundations and friends to help jump-start the school’s future.

The Make Your Mark campaign helped strengthen Ryerson’s role as a city-builder and a catalyst for urban renewal. The generous support of some of the country’s foremost philanthropists contributed to unprecedented campus expansion and a rejuvenation of the surrounding communities in Toronto’s downtown core.

The iconic Maple Leaf Gardens was brought back to life as the Mattamy Athletic Centre, a home for Ryerson Athletics. The Ryerson Image Centre has emerged as a major cultural destination with world-class collections, exhibitions and research. Ryerson’s Student Learning Centre gives the university a gateway on Yonge Street. At Bay and Dundas, the Ted Rogers School of Management now houses Canada’s largest business school.

The campaign has made possible new academic programs, research centres and institutes, and a greater number of endowed chairs and new faculty from around the world. Students have gained access to state-of-the-art technology in classrooms, labs and studios.

$64.7 million of the money raised was directed to student awards, increasing access to university education for promising students. New, expanded outreach programs supported through the campaign help Ryerson extend a guiding hand into the community, and bridge the gap to university and to a career.
