Faculty SRC Awards recognize contributions to research

Outstanding scholarly, research and creative activity is celebrated at the Faculty SRC Awards.
Excellence in scholarly, research and creative (SRC) activity was honoured Feb. 15 at the Faculty SRC Awards, which included presentation of the Sarwan Sahota - Distinguished Scholar Award.
Students, colleagues, staff and board members were in attendance to recognize 24 faculty members for their achievements in SRC.
"We have amazing achievements to celebrate today," said Carla Cassidy, interim vice-president, research and innovation. "All of the recipients push frontiers in their own disciplines as well as contributing to a healthier, more prosperous and just society."
Two recipients were named for the Sarwan Sahota - Distinguished Scholar Award: Dennis Denisoff, Department of English, Faculty of Arts, and Gideon Wolfaardt, Department of Chemistry and Biology, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science. Denisoff was honoured for his work in gender and sexuality, and Wolfaardt for his work in biofilms and microbial communities.
Provost and Vice President Academic Alan Shepard said: "Ryerson's reputation for research in a wide range of disciplines is accelerating. Everything I heard today about each recipient's impressive accomplishments reminds me of why there is such momentum."
