The recipients of the Faculty Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity (SRC) Awards and the Sarwan Sahota - Distinguished Scholar Award have been announced.
The recipients will be honoured at a luncheon on February 14 and then, on April 4, 2012, receive their certificates at the first annual Ryerson Awards Night. This event will recognize excellence from across the university and provide an opportunity to celebrate together the highest achievements of faculty and staff. Further information is available here.
"All of this year's recipients are to be congratulated for their outstanding contributions to Ryerson's accelerating SRC reputation not only here in Canada but internationally," said Wendy Cukier, vice-president, research and innovation. "They pursue excellence in a variety of ways from a wide variety of disciplines, and are strengthening and deepening relationships with other institutions worldwide."
Sri Krishnan of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Science, is the recipient of the Sarwan Sahota - Distinguished Scholar Award. The award is presented annually to a faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to knowledge or artistic creativity in their area of expertise. The award is made possible through the joint contributions of Sarwan Sahota, a retired professor, and the university. Krishnan is a highly regarded researcher and holds the position of Canada Research Chair in Biomedical Signal Analysis along with a number of other prestigious awards.
"Each of these researchers has an incredibly impressive track record of accomplishments," said Alan Shepard, provost and vice president academic. "Their intellectual curiosity and innovative approaches to solving real-world problems have put Ryerson ahead of the curve in undertaking research, and have helped to shape Ryerson's growing reputation among government and the private sector."
The Faculty SRC Awards recognize individual faculty members on an annual basis for outstanding achievement in scholarly, research and creative activity and impact on their disciplines during the previous academic year.
