An engineering lab was named in honour of Stalin Boctor, former dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Science (FEAS), who passed away last year. The lab ENG 301, used by hundreds of first- and second-year students to construct and test basic electric circuits and systems, is now known as the Dr. Stalin Boctor Circuits and Systems Laboratory.

At the dedication, FEAS Dean Mohamed Lachemi announced the establishment of the Dr. Stalin Boctor Awards, four student awards created in Boctor's honour, supported by many of his friends and colleagues who contributed funds. The awards are for a graduating student who completes his/her degree within FEAS, an undergraduate student in the fourth year of study in a science program, an undergraduate student in computer or electrical engineering who has excelled in electrical circuits courses, and finally an award for overall excellence for a FEAS student in the third year. This fall will mark the inaugural granting of the awards.
