Chemistry and its applications influence every aspect of our lives.  Understanding matter and the way it can be transformed at the molecular level illuminates the other physical and life sciences, provides powerful tools for investigating the world we live in and makes the design and synthesis of useful materials possible.  Chemistry is a part of everything we do, from protecting our environment to fighting disease, from making our world safer to keeping us cleaner. 

From its central position, the field of chemistry is diversifying in many exciting ways: overlapping with biology to drive developments in biochemistry, molecular biology and medicine; overlapping with physics and engineering to produce functional new materials such as superconductors and fuel cells.  The flexibility built into our curriculum will enable you to chart your own academic path towards the career opportunities or research fields that interest you the most.

In our Bachelor of Science in Chemistry you’ll develop a sound knowledge of chemistry as a core discipline, career relevant experience with current chemical instrumentation, and practical expertise in laboratory skills, researching the scientific literature, and presenting your work to other scientists.

The Chemistry curriculum encompasses chief branches of the discipline through required and elective courses in organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry.  Additional required and elective courses in materials, pharmaceutical, and computational chemistry, environmental science, math, physics, communication, and liberal studies add technical depth and cultural breadth to your professional education.
