Welcome

Our Bachelor of Science in Contemporary Science provides the opportunity to explore the convergence of knowledge, methods and skills emanating from the core scientific disciplines of mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry while also studying related fields such as computer science, psychology, and environmental science.

In our program, you’ll gain a solid foundation in classical aspects of science, but you’ll also learn how to apply your expertise in a very modern way. Science and technology in today’s world tends to be multidisciplinary approach rather than as discrete fields. Advances in such areas as new technology, health care, and environmental sustainability have all arisen from the multidisciplinary application of science. You’ll study the relationships among these fields and disciplines and the ways in which they are flowing together. Most importantly – because this program emphasizes application as well as theory – you’ll learn how this understanding can be used to address contemporary issues and problems.

Access to the full array science disciplines also allows you to customize your program and tailor it to your needs.  This is particularly advantageous for students seeking to meet the requirements for professional schools such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and optometry.   In addition, a degree in Contemporary Science can prepare you for related careers in science patent law, environmental science, science education and business areas such as the pharmaceutical industry.

You’ll complement your science education with a range of liberal studies courses to broaden your awareness of the world, and of the social and cultural context in which innovation and technology emerge. You’ll learn how to convey scientific ideas to the public and help society understand the goals of science. You may also earn an optional designation in Management Science that will help you prepare for a career in applied science management or for graduate studies in management related to your specialization.
