The resources we offer are designed to make our students as successful as possible throughout their educational careers and their vocation of choice. The Dean's Office, the First-Year and Common Science Office and the Office of Science Outreach and Enrichment works in conjunction with one another to make every student feel welcome.
This page will continue to be updated with valuable information about student groups and other resources that will enhance your time at Ryerson.
Quick Start Program
In conjunction with the Faculty of Science, the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education offers the Quick Start Program for students who are entering their first year of science programs. Quick Start workshops prepare incoming students for university courses and help to familiarize them with Ryerson University.
Workshops run for one or two weeks and are taught by instructors closely linked to the home department. This allows students to experience a university teaching style and also specifically teaches the course content and skills necessary for first-year courses. Students are given tests and assignments in order to gauge their progress. For more information on the Quick Start program, please contact the First-Year and Common Science Office.
Transition Program
The Transition Program was created to provide students who may need more time to adapt to the demanding university curriculum with an immediate opportunity to upgrade their academic standings and to complete missing and/or failed courses.
Space is limited in Transition Program courses, therefore students who are missing courses or who are required to register in the Transition Program as part of their probationary contracts will be given priority consideration. Students who wish to register in Transition Program courses to upgrade their marks may do so, subject to availability of space. For more information on the transitition program, please contact the First-Year and Common Science Office.
BSc co-operative Program
Each discipline in the Faculty of Science includes an optional co-operative education program which provides students with an opportunity for 20 months of work experience that is related to their academic program.
Please note students with Required to Withdraw standing (or equivalent) from any university do not qualify for Special Student status in this Faculty. For more information, go to the co-operative program page.
