Our mission:
Our working group, in its second term under ISPRS Technical
Commission IV, aims at informing and activating people interested
in distributed, web-based geoinformation services and
applications, and working in academic institutions, government
agencies and private sectors.
We are focused on promoting the goals of the WG as expressed in its terms of reference by means of various activities
and events and in cooperation with ISPRS, other national and international organisations and Geomatics-related firms.
Terms of Reference:
- Development of Web-based geospatial data processing,
integration, services and applications:
- Intelligent web mapping/GIS services
- Service-oriented architecture for the integration of
multiple geospatial web services (attention to map mashup
development)
- Applications of web semantics and ontology
- Web-based geospatial information visualization
- Raster-based spatial analysis with integration of web-based
visualisation systems
- Web-based spatiotemporal analysis (in collaboration with WG
II/1)
- Integration of open source solutions and open
standards/specifications
- Development of web-based spatial decision support systems,
public participation GIS, and planning support systems (in
collaboration with WG II/7)
- Development of mobile and ubiquitous geospatial services
and applications:
- Adaptive and context-aware processing and visualisation of
spatial information
- Integration of spatial data in information-mobility
services
- Development of Internet and web-based virtual and
collaborative geospatial environments
- Development and applications of web-based multidimensional
GIS
- Quality assessment of Internet- and web-based geospatial
processes and applications
- Cooperation with related commissions and/or working groups,
ICA (Internet and Mapping Commission), WGISS, FIG, OSGeo, etc.
- WG IV/5 joins WG IV/1 and other ISPRS WGs to co-organize
ISPRS Workshop on Geospatial Data Infrastructure: from data
acquisition and updating to smarter services, to be held in
Guilin, China from Oct 20-21, 2011.
First Call for Papers.
- WebMGS 2010 was successfully concluded. Please read our
report and view some photos taken during the workshop (Note:
report and photos will be available online soon).
- WG IV/5 co-organized the Academic Track of
FOSS4G 2010 conference, held in Barcelona, Spain in
September 2010.
- The 3rd Call for Papers of WebMGS 2010 is released, which
contains detailed information about workshop registration. You

- In conjunction with the ASPRS/CaGIS 2010 Specialty
Conference, Commission IV Symposium ā³Geodatabases & Digital Mappingā³,
to be held Orlando, Florida, USA from November 15 to 19, 2010.
