Frank Russo is a cognitive scientist, musician and "armchair engineer". He received his Ph.D. from Queen's University at Kingston (2002), followed by post-doctoral fellowships in music cognition and hearing science. His current position is Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of Psychological Science Training at Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada). He also serves as an Adjunct Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (Communication Team) and as a member of the boards of the Canadian Acoustical Association and the Society for Music Perception and Cognition. His research seeks answers to questions at the intersection of mind, music and technology. He is co-inventor of the Emoti-Chair, an award-winning sensory substitution device, and several other assistive and rehabilitative technologies.Frank is a recipient of Early Researcher Awards from the Ministry of Research and Innovation (2011) and from the Canadian Society for Brain Behaviour and Cognitive Science (2012).
