Field Instructors of the Year Awards

The School of Social Work acknowledges Field Instructors’ commitment to quality social work education in part through the Field Instructors of the Year Awards.

The success of the field placement experience is largely dependent upon the energy, time, and expertise that practitioners are willing to share with students. The Field Instructors of the Year Awards is one small way that the School of Social Work acknowledges and celebrates this important role and those who support students as Field Instructors. 

Each year, we invite students and Faculty Consultants to nominate Field Instructors who have demonstrated exceptional support and guidance to students.  Students and Faculty Consultants who would like to nominate a Field Instructor must submit a nomination form by the end of March.

At the end of March, a committee consisting of staff and Faculty from the School of Social Work reviews nominations received and selects one Field Instructor for the award for each placement level (3rd year BSW, 4th year BSW, and MSW). 

Recipients of the awards are informed and encouraged to attend the School’s annual Field Instructor Appreciation Luncheon, when the awards are presented.  The School also invites recipients of the awards to say a few words about their experiences as a Field Instructor at this event.  The students and Faculty Consultants who nominate recipients of the awards are also invited to attend the luncheon and encouraged to offer comments about their Field Instructor.
