| During Ryerson University's mid-year break, students doing a Fall/Winter placement are expected to complete a minimum of one week's worth of placement hours (14 hours for third year and 21 hours for fourth year). These hours are to be arranged prior to the start of the Fall term undergraduate exam period and are to be mutually agreed upon by both the student and the Field Instructor. | December 22, 2011 to January 3, 2012 |

| Deadline for securing Fall/Winter placement | |
| Students who do not secure a placement by this deadline must postpone doing the Field Practicum (SWP 36A/B or SWP 51A/B) and Social Work Practice Seminar (SWP 31A/B and SWP 50A/B) until the 2013-2014 academic year. | August 15, 2012 |

Field Instructor Workshops
The School of Social Work's Field Education Office offers professional development workshops for Field Instructors each year. These are free training opportunities for practitioners who are supervising a BSW or MSW student from Ryerson University in a field placement.
Field Instructors receive reminders and details a couple of weeks prior to each workshop, including times and locations. Field Instructors who are interested in attending any of these workshops can RSVP to swfield@ryerson.ca

| Annual Field Education Appreciation Event | |
In recognition of the vital role of Field Instructors in social work education, the School hosts an annual Field Education Appreciation Event. The first part of the event typically consists of interactive workshops that focus on self-care. These workshops include opportunities to participate in fun and relaxing activities (e.g., crafts, yoga, mindfulness/meditation). The workshops are followed by a luncheon, which includes a presentation of the Field Instructors of the Year Awards. | |
