Ryerson Faculty Consultant - Role and Responsibilities

The Ryerson Faculty Consultant is a member of the Faculty (full-time or part-time) in the School of Social Work and provides guidance and support to the student and to the Field Instructor regarding the placement design, development and process. Field Instructors are provided the name of their assigned Faculty Consultant from their student on the first day of placement.

If any questions or concerns arise on the part of student or Field Instructor during the course of the placement, they are encouraged to involve the Faculty Consultant, as it is their role to provide support, problem solving and general assistance.

The Faculty Consultant is responsible for the assignment of grades for the placement. However, as evaluation is an ongoing process, it is expected that the student, Field Instructor and Faculty Consultant will involve themselves in a mutual, ongoing evaluative process which will culminate with the Faculty Consultant assigning a pass/fail grade at the end of each term.

Consult the BSW Field Education Manual for specific responsibilities.
