Field Education Office - Roles and Responsibilities
The Associate Director, Field Education is a member of the School of Social Work's faculty and an administrator who has academic responsibility for field placements. The Associate Director, in conjunction with the School’s Director, engages in yearly strategic planning as well as policy and systems development as it relates to the Field Education Office. The Associate Director, Field Education is available to faculty, students, and Field Instructors for consultation on issues related to field placements.
The Field Education Manager is a part of the School of Social Work's administration and is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the Field Education Office to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. The Field Education Manager, in conjunction with the Associate Director, Field Education, engages in yearly strategic planning and sets the yearly workplan for the Field Edcuation Office. The Field Education Manager is responsible for all aspects of the placement process as it pertains to MSW students. The Field Education Manager also takes leadership on the outreach and recruitment of new placement settings for the BSW and MSW programs.
The Field Education Coordinators are a part of the School of Social Work's administration and are primarily responsible for all aspects of the placement process as it relates to the matching and placing of BSW students. This includes participating in the outreach and recruitment of placement settings, as well as assessment and evaluation of placement settings. The Field Education Coordinators organize workshops and class visits with students to help prepare them for field placement. There are two Field Education Coordinators in the School of Social Work. One is responsible for 3rd year BSW placements and the other is responsible for 4th year BSW placements.
The Program Assistant is a part of the administration of the School of Social Work and is responsible for a number of administrative activities within the Field Education Office. This includes maintaining the office's online placement system, as well as training and supporting those who use the application.
