Minimum Academic Requirement
The Master of Social Work program is a one year full time program.
Applicants wanting to apply must have:
- A Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from an institution that meets the guidelines of the International Association of Schools of Social Work, or is accredited by a national body of accreditation. If you do not have a BSW you do not qualify for our program.
- Achieved a minimum 3.0/4.33 (B or equivalent) average in the last two years of study
First Consideration Application date: FRIDAY DECEMBER 7th 2012 for Fall 2013

In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School at Ryerson, the Master of Social Work Program requires the following materials:
Statement of Interest
You are required to submit a brief statement (2-3) pages, double spaced with one inch margins that should address the following:
A 1. Ryerson University's Master of Social Work degree has anti-oppression as its field of study. How have you engaged with an anti-oppression approach and or different ways of knowing?
2. What Research interests do you intend to pursue in this program?
OPTOPNAL: In addition to your written responses to the above questions please feel free to augment with information in alternative formats. For example video* (by electronic link only), arts based (poetry, images, narrative) etc.
* video submission maximum two minutes. All other formats maximum one page.
Resume
An updated resume that highlights the following:
Paid work experience
Volunteer experience
Student placements
Research experience
Publications
Relevant training
Academic and other awards
Letters of Reccommendation
TWO Letters of Recommendation are required for each application - one from an academic referee and one from a professional referee. ONE of the two required recommendations must be a university (academic) Letter of Recommendation (ie. a faculty member familiar with your academic performance). The second Letter of Recommendation may be submitted by a professional (non-academic) referee.
