Admission Requirements

Admission Process

Applications for admission are made through the Ryerson Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Advanced Standing applicants selected for admission consideration must complete the prerequisite, non-credit course, CVSW 15A: Foundations of Social Work II, which is designed to prepare advanced standing applicants for direct entry into Year Three of the Program. The course consists of three modules:

  1. Knowledge and value foundations of social work
  2. Social policy contexts
  3. Social work practice and anti-oppression perspectives.

The course is presented within a framework of social work knowledge, values and skills that promote the enhancement of social well-being of people who are disadvantaged by social inequities and life circumstances. It synthesizes and builds upon the foundation curriculum of the Program. The course will be offered in an intensive format in the Spring Term (May - June) of the academic year, and will require 84 hours of in-class time. The course will employ a variety of teaching and learning methods. Student performance will be evaluated through assignments, examinations, and class attendance. Reading and course assignment preparation will be required outside of class time.
