    Admission Requirements and Application Procedure

    The minimum requirement for admission into the MSA program is a B average in a four-year undergraduate degree or its equivalent, from a recognised post-secondary institution. The additional requirements to be eligible for consideration for admission are:

    • Applicants must also have achieved a minimum of at least a B+ average (or equivalent) in their last four semesters of undergraduate study.

    • Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation. Students applying for the full-time program must provide both letters of recommendation from former instructors (post-secondary level) while those applying for the part-time program may substitute one letter from their current employer for one academic references.

    • Applicants must demonstrate that they have the necessary background to pursue Master's level graduate work in spatial analysis. (For example, if the undergraduate work involves geography, urban studies, urban and regional planning, environmental studies, forestry, soil science, urban design, biology, geology, economics, computer science, or any similar discipline, applicants should have included at least either a one-semester credit in GIS or a one-semester credit in applied statistics or quantitative methods, in their baccalaureate program).

    Applicants whose first language is not English and who graduated from a university where the language of instruction and examination was not English, must have obtained a minimum test score as follows:

    • TOEFL Internet-based (iBT): Overall score of 93, and a minimum of 22 in Speaking and Writing sections.
    • TOEFL computer-based (CBT): Overall score of 237 and a TWE score of at least 5.
    • TOEFL paper-based (PBT): Overall score of 580 and a TWE score of at least 5.
    • IELTS: Overall band score of 7.0
    • MELAB: Total score of 85
