Undergraduate Dean's List

What is the Dean's List, and how do I get my name on it?

In June of each academic year, students who met standards of specific academic criteria as set forth by the individual Faculties will receive a Letter of Congratulations from the Dean of their Faculty. General criteria is noted below: standards may vary from one Faculty to another. The Dean's List recognition is noted only on a student's transcript, not on a graduation document.

1. Each Faculty will establish a Dean's List for students enrolled in undergraduate programs in that Faculty.

2. To be eligible for consideration for the Dean's List, students in full-time programs must be carrying an average unit load of over 4.00 units for the Fall and Winter terms.

3. Students enrolled in part-time programs, must normally complete the equivalent of a full year of study in order to be eligible for consideration. These students can then be considered again after completing each "set" of equivalent full years of study. Programs can use their discretion in timing the consideration of part-time program students for inclusion on the Dean's list (i.e. after 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 courses) provided that the student is not considered and included on the Dean's list more than the equivalent number of times a full-time program student may be eligible (normally four times for students admitted to year one of a four-year program).

4. The criteria for part-time program students will be used for students registered with the Access Centre who are enrolled for full-time programs.

5. Full- and Part-time program students registered with the Access Centre may be placed on the Dean's list at the end of any term as appropriate based on their studies (see note # 3 above).Students must have all passing grades and a CLEAR Academic Standing.

6. Each Dean will establish a GPA requirement for their Faculty. While this GPA must be a minimum of 3.50 GPA for the academic year, a Dean may establish a GPA requirement that is higher than 3.50.

7. Students must have all passing grades and a CLEAR Academic Standing. They cannot have received any Disciplinary Notices (DN) while at Ryerson.

8. All criteria for Dean's List must be published on the Faculty's website.

9. Dean's lists will be published annually on the Faculty websites.
