Re-Admission

What is re-admission?

You must apply for re-admission if:

You officially withdrew from your program;

OR

You have been absent from your program for at least one full year if you are in a full-time program or three consecutive terms if you are in a part-time program;

AND

You are in good Academic Standing.

Students who wish to return to their program after a REQUIRED TO WITHDRAW Standing should refer to Academic Matters: Academic Standing.

Questions about re-admission?

You'll find the answer by going to ask.ryerson.ca or at Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment POD-144, 416-979-5036.

How do I apply for re-admission?

Apply to Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment using the Ryerson application form. This form is available online at www.ryerson.ca/forms. You will be required to submit the completed form with an $80 (subject to change) application fee.

If you apply by February 1 for Fall or by November 1 for Winter, you will be given equal consideration subject to space availability. We cannot guarantee equal consideration after these dates.

I withdrew from school because of illness. Is my case different?

If you withdrew from school because of medical or compassionate reasons, you need to notify the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment that you want to return.

You must complete and submit the Ryerson application form by February 1 for Fall or by November 1 for Winter. Include a medical certificate or other documentation to support your request on compassionate grounds. We cannot guarantee equal consideration after these dates.

What conditions are placed on re-admission?

There is no guarantee of re-admission. Re-admission is always subject to space being available and past academic performance.

There is a limit to the time you can take to complete your program, starting from when you were first admitted. For example, if you were admitted to year one of a four-year program, you have a maximum of eight years to complete it. Exceptions can be made on an appeal basis to the appropriate Dean. Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment can provide you with more information.

If you were away for an extended period of time, there may be concern about whether you are up-to-date with any changes in your curriculum/field. You may have to repeat some courses or fulfill the outstanding requirements by course substitution.
