Extensive Transfer Credit information is available at www.ryerson.ca/transfercredits. Can I apply courses I have taken elsewhere to my Ryerson program? Yes, if: 1. You think the courses you have taken are similar to those offered in your program. 2. If the course was taken at an accredited post-secondary institution. 3. You completed a course at an accredited university with a grade of 60% or higher (where 60% equals 'C-'), or you completed a course at an accredited college with a grade of 70% or higher (where 70% equals 'B-'). 4. Your course was not used as a basis for admission or for previous Transfer Credit. Will all Transfer Credits that I have been granted, be used towards my program's requirements? No, not all Credits granted are applicable to degree requirements. To determine which courses are applicable to your degree, full-time students should run an Advisement Report. Part-time students should request a Manual Advisement Report. See Academic Matters: Graduation. If the Transfer Credit(s) is not applicable to your degree, you may wish to petition your program department for a Course Directive or Course Substitution to allow the credit to be used towards your graduation requirements. How will Transfer Credits affect my GPA? A Transfer Credit will be recorded on your record as CRT. It will not be calculated in your Grade Point Average. What is Advanced Standing? Advanced Standing means you have been admitted to a level higher than first year, first semester or to a part-time degree completion program. All or some of your post-secondary studies will have been used as your basis of admission. Only those courses not used as a basis for admission or Transfer Credit may be used to apply for further Transfer Credit, providing you meet the residency requirement (see Academic Matters: Transfer Credits for more information). Application Deadlines for Transfer Credits are: Students are strongly advised to apply for Transfer Credits as soon as possible because confirming Transfer Credits early facilitates course planning and prevents students from enrolling in courses that could be eligible for Transfer Credit. How do I find out about the status of my application?
What do I do if I am granted Transfer Credits? You should first determine what Transfer Credits apply towards your program; full-time students should run an Advisement Report on RAMSS and part-time students should request a Manual Advisement Report. What do I do if I wish to take a course for which I have been granted Transfer Credit? You must put in a request to cancel the Transfer Credit, in writing, to the Transfer Credit Unit Office. What do I do if I am not granted Transfer Credits? You have the right to appeal, but only decisions with a rejected status can be appealed as long as additional supporting documentation can be provided. Appeals must be made in writing to the Transfer Credit Unit office and must include:
