Aegrotat Grade

What is Aegrotat Grade?

An Aegrotat Grade is a credit granted by the Dean, in consultation with the instructor, only under exceptional circumstances when there has been acceptable performance in a course and some coursework remains to be completed.

How do I request an Aegrotat Grade?

You should discuss your situation with your instructor as soon as possible after it happens and submit an official request to the Dean of your Faculty or School. Provide medical documents from your physician describing the dates, and duration of your illness. The documents should describe the impact your illness had on your ability to fulfill your academic requirements, and any other information your doctor considers relevant and appropriate.

If the request for an Aegrotat Grade is for compassionate reasons, the decision will be based on the severity of the circumstances, and the amount of work missed. There may have been unforeseen circumstances beyond your control in either your personal or family life that may have affected your academic performance. Provide documentation that indicates the dates and duration of the circumstances, the work missed, and the impact it had on your ability to fulfill your academic requirements.

Why would I request an Aegrotat Grade?

The following conditions must apply:

The work you have done for the course must be at an acceptable level.

You could not write the final exam for medical or other compassionate reasons, and you will not be able to write the exam for an extended period of time.

There was no exam in the course but there was a final assignment due at the end of classes which you could not complete for medical or other compassionate reasons, and you will not be able to complete it for an extended period of time.

How does Aegrotat Grade affect my grades?

Aegrotat Grade shows on your grade report as AEG. It does not count in the calculation of your grade point average.

Go to RSU, CESAR, or Services for Students for advice, and assistance with your application.
