Ryerson has a number of policies designed to keep the campus clean and peaceful. CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL Sale and consumption of alcohol can only happen in designated areas. If you consume alcohol outside of those areas, or if you display the results of the consumption of alcohol, procedures of the Student Conduct Code will be followed. If you live in residence, be sure to follow the guidelines provided to you concerning the consumption of alcohol. SMOKING ON CAMPUS Toronto has a by-law stating that each workplace can set its own rules about where you can smoke. At Ryerson, most places are designated non-smoking - look for the signs. Generally speaking, the only place you can smoke is outdoors. On May 31, 2006, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act came into effect. Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public space and enclosed workplace. This includes all enclosed public or workplace. This is further defined as any building or structure on Ryerson campus. In addition, no smoking is permitted within a nine metre radius surrounding any entrance or exit of a public place. POSTERS Yes, there are rules about posters. See, if there were not rules about posters every garage band in town would be advertising their next gig at the neighbourhood dive. The rule is that no commercial advertising or external publications are allowed. Students wishing to put up posters have to have the poster approved. Banners must also be approved for specific areas. Go to the Ryerson Students' Union, SCC-311 if your poster is for an event held by an RSU Student Group, or Course Union. For all other Ryerson events, go to the Office of Student Community Life (POD-61). If your poster does not have an approval stamp, it will be torn down. Posters can only be placed on bulletin boards or equivalent areas. CRIMINAL ACTS Use of illegal substances and any other criminal act will be dealt with through the Criminal Code of Canada and could lead to DISCIPLINARY SUSPENSION. See the Student Code of Academic and Student Code of Non-Academic Conduct for more information. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
