Where can I go for help with career planning or if I'm thinking of changing my major?

The Centre for Student Development and Counselling Centre provides individual counselling and group programs to help students gain the self-knowledge and labour market awareness needed to make satisfying educational, career and employment decisions.

I have a personal problem, where do I get help?

Professional counsellors provide individual counselling related to students' personal, career, and academic concerns. Group programs focus on issues such as depression, anxiety, shyness, stress management, and family and interpersonal relationships. All appointments are free and all communication between students and counsellors is strictly confidential within legal guidelines. A copy of the policy on confidentiality is available at the Centre for Student Development and Counselling.

Does Ryerson provide crisis services?

The Ryerson Crisis Team is run through the Centre for Student Development and Counselling. Accidents, deaths, assaults, disasters - these and other traumatic events can have an extremely strong impact on individuals, causing disruption in their ability to function. The Ryerson Crisis Team works only with members of the Ryerson community who have been affected by a trauma. All services are free and confidential. To arrange a group debriefing, contact:

Does Ryerson offer any emergency housing or shelter for students?

The Centre for Student Development and Counselling co-facilitates the Ryerson Safe House for financially needy students who are at immediate risk of physical or sexual harm, or are fleeing unsafe or intolerable living conditions.

What residences does Ryerson have?

Three on-campus residences house 852 students. The 14-storey Pitman Hall houses 567. O'Keefe House, a historic house accommodates 33, and the International Living Learning Centre, a former hotel, houses 252. The majority of rooms are single occupancy. Priority for admission to Residence is given

to first year students coming directly from high school, whose permanent address is the furthest distance from Toronto.

Can I get help in finding a place to live off campus?

Yes. The Off-Campus Housing Registry is a free service offered to Ryerson students. Listings of off-campus accommodations are posted and information is provided on how to start your search, and to rent an apartment. City maps, telephones, information on the Tenant Protection Act and other types of information are available.

How do I get a GO transit discount?

GO transit student discount application forms are available from Student Financial Assistance in Room POD-59. You must be a full-time student with a 60% course load, have a valid student ID card and a current timetable or enrollment form to receive the form.
