Many programs at Ryerson offer students a choice of major. Before attempting to change your Plan/Major, read the Program Overview and Curriculum information for your program in the Undergraduate Calendar.

For programs with specific plan change requirements, you will be notified by your Program Department after winter grading if you do not meet your plan’s criteria. Most programs allow you to change your Plan on RAMSS. Login to RAMSS, select My Academics and follow the links.

The RAMSS Support webpage give you detailed instructionsabout how to change your major.

You can only be registered in only one Ryerson degree program (including Special Student studies) at any given time.

When you apply for and are offered a transfer from one Ryerson program to another, you forfeit your status in your original program. You will apply through Undergraduate Admissions, following the process for current Ryerson Students.

Tip: Changing programs impacts your OSAP funding. You must report program changes to the Student Financial Assistance Office.

Stepping out for one year or less: Complete the Short-Term Withdrawal Form if you wish to take a short formal break from your studies at Ryerson for the next academic year (Fall and/or Winter).

Short-term withdrawals are not available to newly admitted students. New students who do not enrol in classes and attend in September will have their admission status cancelled and must re-apply for admission as per the Offer of Admission.

Consult Significant Dates for applicable deadlines and the refund schedule, and see Timespan.

Permanently leaving Ryerson: If your academic standing is Clear or Probationary, but you wish to voluntarily and permanently withdraw from studies at Ryerson, then you must fill out an Application to Withdraw (pdf).

Students who do not officially, formally withdraw will be assigned failing grades for all enrolled courses and are liable for all associated course fees. Your Academic Standing may also be affected. In short, it is best to make it official.

Students whose academic standing is Permanent Program Withdrawal or Required to Withdraw are not required to complete this application form.

If you do not have any course enrollments for more than three semesters you will be deemed inactive (Discontinued) and will be unable to enroll in courses. Students who are inactive may re-activate their status through their program department (See Academic Program Administration Contacts).
