Ryerson International Student Support (ISS) is your home away from home and provides a sense of belonging and community for all students who are new to Canada.  It is our role to be there for you every step of the way during your journey at Ryerson University.  We have specially trained staff members who will support you as you adjust to life in Canada, connect with fellow students, and help you reach your academic, personal, and professional goals.

We are the only place on campus with professional staff who are licensed and have the expertise to provide immigration advice.  One-on-one immigration advising can assist you with studying, working, and immigrating to Canada, studying, working, and volunteering abroad, inviting family members and friends to visit, and submitting immigration applications in our office.  We provide status letters as proof of enrollment for immigration applications, scholarships, military service exception, and for any other matter requiring proof of enrollment.  We liaise with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Opportunities Ontario, the U.S. Consulate General, and local immigration law firms to facilitate Canadian and U.S. immigration workshops.   We administer the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), health insurance that is mandatory for most international students and we are happy to assist you navigate the Canadian health care system.

We specialize in providing advice that can nurture your personal and professional development and help you reach your infinite potential with support integrating into the Ryerson community, opportunities to work on campus through the International Student Support Work Experience Program (ISSWEP), and various volunteer opportunities.  Our advisors host the Let’s Talk Series, informative monthly events that advocate student wellness and mental well-being.  We administer financial assistance and scholarship opportunities for international students.

We support cultural programming that celebrates global perspectives and engagement that includes the Glocal Links program, an intercultural dialogue program that promotes acceptance of others and cultivates a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives and practices that increase sociocultural competencies.  We also host numerous cultural events and celebrations on campus.
