Are you or your student group looking for seed funding to get a project started? SIF can help!
Student projects help build a vibrant student life on campus but often cost more than an individual student can afford. Ryerson University is committed to supporting student initiatives to bring academic, cultural, and recreational projects to life. So, if you are an undergraduate, graduate, or continuing education student with a great idea, please submit a SIF application!
The Student Initiatives Fund (SIF) is in charge of funding thousands of dollars to dozens of student initiatives every year, with its primary focus on seed funding for new projects. Decisions are made by your peers as the committee is comprised of student representatives from each of the six faculties, RSU, CESAR, and the Office of the Vice Provost of Students. Every year, the committee helps individuals and student groups achieve success by funding their amazing student led initiatives.
- Will your project develop community at Ryerson University?
- Will it enhance student life beyond academics?
- Will it positively promote the image of Ryerson on campus or beyond?
If you answered yes to these questions, then there’s a good chance SIF can help you get your project off the ground. Take a look at our official policy to see if SIF is right for your idea.

Check out more information about a Student Space Upgrade here.
Ryerson University is committed to creating a memorable experience for every student. To do this, we need to have an engaged student body that is actively participating in both the academic life of the community, as well as its social life. We know that the best student environment is one that you and your peers craft through student projects and activities. Through the Commission on Student Engagement and Experience we heard from many of you about your vision for the campus and for campus life. The Student Initiatives Fund was created to supply funding to the Student Initiatives Fund, to help you create the activities and programs you want to see on this campus. So, if you have an idea that you think would make a difference at Ryerson and need some assistance, please contact Student Life Programs about SIF funding. Our staff and your peers will work with you to realize your dream.
SIF Applications for 2017-2018 are open as of September 5, 2017 through to Friday, March 2, 2018.
