Your Responsibilities


Accommodations come with responsibilities. 


Students, you are responsible for:

  • Adhering to academic acommodation procedures;
  • Meeting essential requirements of your course/program;
  • Providing up-to-date documentation that verifies disability, explains functional limitations, and suggests appropriate accommodations;
  • Informing your professors, through the Accommodation Form for Professors, of your registration with the Access Centre and what accommodations are required;
  • Negotiating accommodation requests with your professors, and doing so as early on in the semester as possible;
  • Following test-booking procedures and timelines carefully;
  • Adhering to all important dates and deadlines;
  • Checking email and the Access Centre website regularly.

 
Students, you are encouraged to:

  • Register and re-register with the Access Centre as early as possible;
  • Meet your Facilitator when needed;
  • Build rapport and collaborate with your professors;
  • Ask questions, take notes, be aware of context, and listen mindfully;
  • Cultivate self-advocacy skills, and be aware of how and when to use the Access Centre for support purposes;
  • Learn about the variety and breadth of Ryerson’s student services.
