Your Responsibilities
Accommodations come with responsibilities.
Students, you are responsible for:
- Adhering to academic acommodation procedures;
- Meeting essential requirements of your course/program;
- Providing up-to-date documentation that verifies disability, explains functional limitations, and suggests appropriate accommodations;
- Informing your professors, through the Accommodation Form for Professors, of your registration with the Access Centre and what accommodations are required;
- Negotiating accommodation requests with your professors, and doing so as early on in the semester as possible;
- Following test-booking procedures and timelines carefully;
- Adhering to all important dates and deadlines;
- Checking email and the Access Centre website regularly.
Students, you are encouraged to:
- Register and re-register with the Access Centre as early as possible;
- Meet your Facilitator when needed;
- Build rapport and collaborate with your professors;
- Ask questions, take notes, be aware of context, and listen mindfully;
- Cultivate self-advocacy skills, and be aware of how and when to use the Access Centre for support purposes;
- Learn about the variety and breadth of Ryerson’s student services.
