English Language Support offers the following language labs:
Presentation Skills Practice Lab
Pronunciation Lab
Listening Lab
Reading Lab
Presentation Skills Practice Laboratory
These individualized sessions are aimed at improving presentation skills. This service is available, free of charge, to all students and staff at Ryerson University regardless of first language. A digital video of a student's presentation is made. An ELS staff member then views the video with the student and discusses it, giving pointers for improvement. The student may download a copy of the presentation to his or her USB key for further study at home.

All ELS winter programs will begin the week of January 17th.

Each appointment is for 1 hour.

The following 3 Labs are offered via Distance Learning. A limited number of in-person on campus appointments are possible - please email els@ryerson.ca with the date(s) and time(s) of your appointment request - we will confirm by email.
Pronunciation Laboratory
This service is available, free of charge, to all students and staff at Ryerson University who use English as an additional language. Participants use up-to-date computer software and voice recordings as aids in improving pronunciation.
Listening Laboratory
Using computer programmes and other audio aids, students will be able to practise sound discrimination, identification of main points in talks and lecture note-taking skills. Strategies for efficient listening and understanding will be explained.
Reading Laboratory
Improve your reading comprehension and speed. Choose an area of interest, such as economics, nursing, physics, etc. Each area of interest contains exercises that focus on the following:
- understanding concepts,
- identifying main points,
- increasing reading speed,
- and comprehending word problems.
