Health Promotion - FAQs

FAQs

What is Health Promotion? Why is it important?

Health Promotion is a different kind of health service than what you might expect from doctor's office. Ryerson Health Promotion is made up of four teams - Peer Mental Health, Active Nutrition, Leave the Pack Behind, and S3 (Sex, Substance, and Safety) - who work to provide the Ryerson campus with information, education, awareness, and resources about health-related topics. It's a free service that aims to help you make informed lifestyle choices that keep you healthy and your life balanced.

Where is the Health Promotion Office? How do I get there?

The Health Promotion Office is located at POD 448. Here's the easiest way to get there:

  1. Enter Jorgenson Hall, turn right towards the main elevators.
  2. Take the elevator to the 4th floor.
  3. Upon exiting the elevator, turn left out of the elevator corridor and walk down the hallway. POD 448 will be on your right, across from the nursing lounge.

What kinds of Health and Wellness issues do we cover in our services?

The Peer Health Promotion Teams at Ryerson cover a wide variety of health and wellness topics. These include:

Healthy Eating

What types of services do you provide?

The Ryerson Health Promotion teams offer many different services, as well as organize a variety of on-campus events. These include:

Monthly newsletters

What is the best way to contact the Health Promotion Teams?

Each team has its own Ryerson telephone extension and email address. The teams also hold regular office hours at POD 448 and are available once a week in the evenings at the International Living and Learning Centre (ILLC) to answer any questions, offer resources, and to provide confidential support. Each team checks both their email account and voicemail regularly and will be happy to help you in any way they can!
