Term of the Position: Early September 2012 to Mid-March 2013
Pay: $12/hr, 11 hrs/wk
Purpose:
The Health Promotion Assistants will be part of a dynamic team focused on improving the health of the Ryerson University community through education, advocacy, and community building.
Duties Include:
• Research health issues and convert that information into easily presented and understandable health messages
• Work closely with other Health Promotion Assistants to provide seamless communications, information, programming and mutual support
• Assist the Health Promoter in collaborating with community stakeholders
• Work collaboratively and liaise with Student Services staff, along with Ryerson faculty, staff, organization, clubs, unions and students, and Toronto Public health staff to effectively design, present and evaluate health issues, and advocate for health promoting policy changes and community development
• Serve as a positive role model for students regarding healthy choices
• Be a front line contact/ health resource for students and ensure confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive personal student issues
• Provide information and support to faculty members, staff and students through information sharing, research, programming and one‐on‐one interactions
• Attend and participate in all staff training sessions, meetings and events
• Frequently communicate with supervisor (goals, concerns, timelines, information transfer, approvals)

LTPB Campus Program Coordinator ($13.00/hr, 10-12 hours per week)
Weekly, on-campus and independent duties. Approximately 8 hours per week.
• Complete weekly evaluation reports and submit to head office
• Plan and lead team meetings
• Book booth times and generate a team schedule
• Manage the LTPB Team Budget in coordination with the Health Promoter
• Work the Health Promotion Communication Team to update the website (www.ryerson.ca/healthpromotion), Facebook and Twitter accounts, to develop posters and bulletin boards, and to advertise/promotion events and booths on Ryerson’s through the Ryerson Today publication and the Ryerson Student Community Life calendar.
GENERAL DUTIES
• Participate in walk-abouts
• Attend to the booth as scheduled
• Attend meetings and provide input
• Promote the program through various means
• Participate actively in contest registration
• Put up posters on campus
• Other general duties
LTPB Team Leader ($12.50/hr, 10-12 hours per week)
Weekly, on-campus and independent duties. Approximately 4 hours per week.
• Assist the Campus Program Coordinator as needed
• Duties may include scheduling booths, printing, checking/counting inventory, completing weekly evaluation reports, conducting meetings, making support calls, etc.
• Will be required to help with any team training
RESIDENCE LIAISON - Monthly, on-campus duties. Approximately 2 hours per month.
• Communicate with campus residences (i.e. Residence Graduate Assistant, etc.)
• Promote the contest on each floor by distributing posters to Resident Assistants (due on Mondays before 4 pm)

LTPB Peer Health Promoter ($12/hour, 11 hours per week)
This position is conditional upon Health Promotion receiving Work-Study funding, and upon the successful applicant being eligible for the Ontario Work-Study Program.
SECRETARY - Weekly, on-campus and independent duties. Approximately 2 – 3 hours per week.
• Take minutes at the meetings
• Forward meeting minutes to all team members (including the Team Leader and Campus Program Coordinator), and to the Research Coordinator at Brock University
• Generate and maintain databases as required
• Help with printing duties
• Explore electronic information sharing tools (i.e. Facebook)
• Regularly check team e-mail address and respond to or forward messages as necessary
WRITING - Submit one article each semester for the “RyeHealth” (Health Promotion) Newsletter
STOCK & INVENTORY - Weekly, on-campus duties. Approximately 1 hour per week.
• Stock and record booth inventory each week
• Complete record form for the Team Leader
• Inform Team Leader when supplies are running low
